Ronald Petrie, age 65, of 477 22nd St. SW. Huron, died Sunday, December 23, 2007 at his home. His memorial service will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, December 27, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Rinearson officiating. There will be no visitation. Welter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Ronald David Petrie was born August 24, 1942, to Walter and Helen (Brockett) Petrie in Des Moines, Iowa. He attended grade school in Carlisle, Iowa, and went to high school in Florham Park, New Jersey and Omaha, Nebraska. Ron was a three-sport letterman in high school. He studied at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, where he also played on the baseball team. He held various office positions in Minneapolis until he was transferred to Madison, SD. When Trussbilt opened in Huron, Ron took the position of Purchasing Manager. Ron was a passionate sports fan and coached various youth football and baseball clubs. He also was an avid outdoorsman; throughout his life he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Ron is survived by 2 daughters, Pamela Lezer of Sauk Centre, Minnesota, and Melissa Petrie of Brookings; 1 son, Jeffrey Petrie of Grand Forks, North Dakota; 2 grandchildren, Noah Lezer and Olivia Lezer of Sauk Centre, Minnesota; his mother, Helen (Brockett) Petrie of Estero, Florida; and 1 brother, Douglas Petrie of Maple Grove, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Bob Petrie.
