Ronald E. Beck, age 80, of Huron, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2022 at his home in Huron. His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Welter Funeral Home in Huron, with a luncheon to follow at South Town Square next to DD Western. Burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron will be held at later date.

Visitation with his family present, will be from 5-7 PM on Friday, November 4, 2022 at Welter Funeral Home.

Ronald "Ron" Elmer Beck was born on September 28, 1942 in Huron, South Dakota to parents Andrew and Nellie (Harrison) Beck. Ron graduated from Huron High School in 1961. Ron married Judy Karstens in Pipestone, MN on June 10, 1960. Throughout his years, Ron worked on machinery in Minneapolis, owned the bunker silo, and worked in the coal mines in Wyoming. Later, Ron and Judy drove truck nationwide while saving up to purchase their own business. They bought Ace Hardware, where he worked until he retired.

In his younger (and older) years, Ron liked to joke around, tell stories, and sometimes be a pain in the butt. He enjoyed driving around town and visiting his favorite places and people. Once retired, Ron enjoyed spending his winters in Arizona with Judy. Ron loved being at Lake Byron and spent many evenings boating on the pontoon with Judy and their friends. Many times, you could find Ron out back of his house working on his latest project.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Beck; son, Paul; his parents, Andrew and Nellie; and brother, Gerald.

Grateful for having shared in his life are children, Bret (Julie) Beck of Huron and Todd (Karen) Beck of Ripon, WI; 6 grandchildren, Courtney (Michael Hagley) Beck, Aidan Beck, Caleb (Samantha) Beck, Taylor (Jason) Grundman, Kylie (Tylor) Burnette, and Cauy (fiancé Ashlynn) Beck; 7 great-grandchildren; and sister Delores Wessel.
