Roger L. Oestreich, age 71, of Calico Rock, AR and formerly of Huron, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Izard County Community Medical Center in Calico Rock.
His funeral service will be 11:00 am on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron with visitation preceding the funeral service beginning at 9 a.m. and the family present from 10 a.m., all at Welter Funeral Home in Huron. Interment will be at the Virgil Cemetery.
Roger Oestreich was born April 17, 1946, at Huron to Edward and Dorothy (Freese) Oestreich. The family moved to Marysville, Wash. After the death of his father, they returned to Huron. He grew up on a farm near Alpena and lived in Huron most of his adult life. He worked at Magness Sale Barn and Bales Sale Barn working with the livestock. He also worked for the local veterinarian and did odd jobs in a few stores around town, especially Manolis Grocery and Humphrey Drug. He delivered the Plainsman newspaper for several years. He moved to Arkansas with his mother and sister in 2009.
He is survived by a sister, Martha Hensley of Arkansas; a brother, Robert Oestreich of Alabama; a step-sister, Mava (Gary) Mikkonen of Anoka, Minn.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father; mother; step-father, Alvin Hull; a brother in infancy; a brother-in-law, Carmen Hensley; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
