Rodney L. Meyer, age 52, of Huron and formerly of Cody, WY, died Friday, December 15, 2006 at the Huron Regional Medical Center. His memorial service will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 19th at the Riverview United Methodist Church in Huron with Rev. Iva Laudermith officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Rodney L. Meyer was born on March 22, 1954, to Paul and Ruby Meyer at Huron. He was raised on the family farm and attended Meyer Country School and Alpena School. In 1972, he graduated from Huron High School. He attended Springfield College for one year and graduated from Mitchell Area Vocational Technical School in 1975 with a degree in electrical construction and maintenance. He moved to Philip, SD and worked for Western Area Power Administration as a electrician. On August 27, 1983, Rodney married Nancy Anderson at the Huron Riverview United Methodist Church. They moved to Cody, WY in 1985 and continued to work for Western Area Power Administration until his retirement in 2001. In April 2005, he moved back to Huron to be closer to his family. He will be missed by all of us and his dogs. He was a National Honor Society member and a member of the United Methodist Church. He loved to hunt and fish and made many trips to Canada to fish and was happy when his dad could accompany him. He was especially proud of the Big Horn Sheep and Wyoming Bull Moose that he shot and loved to show these to people. Rod, also loved his dogs, especially Babe, you would often see him walking her, or riding shotgun with him. He is survived by his wife Nancy of Huron; his parents; 4 brothers, Steve of Huron, Richard (Carolyn) of Huron, Randy (Liz) of Broomfield, CO and Todd of Orlando, FL; 1 step-son, Corey (Kim) of Cody, WY; 5 nephews; 1 niece; 2 great nephews and 1 great niece. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents. Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Society at 1475 Idaho Ave SE, Huron, SD 57350.
