Rodney W. Cambronne, age 82, of Huron, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at the Huron Nursing Home, Huron, SD. His funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 AM Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Huron with the Rev. Ken Hunt officiating. Burial will be at Ideal Cemetery with Military Rites by the Huron Veterans Council. Visitation will be at the Welter Funeral Home from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, February 12 with the family present from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, or one hour before the service at the Church on Wednesday A prayer service is scheduled for 7:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Rodney Cambronne was born on January 20, 1926 to Ernest J. and Mary E. (Nasman) Cambronne on the family farm near St. James, MN. He attended school and graduated from Sanborn High School in Minnesota in 1944. Rodney married Thelma H. Boos on August 27, 1950 at the First Baptist Church in Huron. Rodney served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Phillipines, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal. He worked as Surveyor for the Bureau of Reclamation, and as a drill man for the United States Soil Conservation Service, before retiring in 1971. Rodney also worked for the Metts Baking Company for 10 years. Rodney was a member of the First Baptist Church in Huron for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Thelma, Huron, SD; two sons, Jim (Nancy Davies ) Cambronne, Boston, MA, and Tom Cambronne, San Francisco, CA; two daughters, Carolyn Cambronne, Springfield, MO, and Ruth (Dennis) Bush, Vancouver, WA; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-granchildren; his sister, LaDonna Dallmann, Faribault, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Rodney was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald and Graydon; and his sister, Eileen Werner.
