Obituary

Robert G. "Bob" Reilly, age 81, of Wolsey died Monday, December 23, 2013, in Huron. His funeral service will be 10:30 am Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens including military rites. Visitation with family present will be from 6-8 pm Friday, December 27, 2013, at Welter Funeral Home with a scripture service at 7:00 pm; or Saturday morning one hour prior to the service at the church. Robert George Reilly was born on March 23, 1932, to Charles and Averil (Deeg) Reilly in Huron. He graduated from Virgil High School in 1950. Bob joined the U.S. Army on June 4, 1953. He reached the rank of Seargant while serving in Germany during the Korean War. Bob was honorably discharged on April 15, 1955. Bob returned to South Dakota and went to the Veteran's Ag School. He then returned to the family farm and worked alongside his father. Bob married Judi Huber at Resurection Catholic Church in Huron on December 7, 1973. Bob truly enjoyed farming and eventually took over the family farm from his dad. He finally retired from farming on December 23, 2013. Bob loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting and following his favorite sports teams; the Vikings, the Twins, and the Wolsey-Wessington football, volleyball, and basketball teams. Bob was a member of Resurrection and Holy Trinity Catholic Parish where he was an usher. He was also a member of the Virgil American Legion Schmidt-Barnes Post #268 and Dearborn Twp Board. Bob is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Judi Reilly of Wolsey; four children, Paige (Adam) Ochsner of Alpena, Lance Reilly of Wolsey, Norm (April) Johnson of Woonsocket, Peggy Johnson of Woonsocket; nine grandchildren, Josh Cleveland, Brooke Kuehl, Morgan Matthews, Mallorie High, Zachary Reilly, Ashley Cleveland, Krystal Wilken, Alexis Reilly, Kacie Reilly; 13 great grandchildren, Jaden, Landon, Kaleb, Cash, Shye, Imani, Lyric, Addysen, Allie, Silas, Tyler, Jazmyn, Xavian; one brother, Don Reilly of Huron; two sisters, Helen Jager of Huron, Alice (Harlan) Mentzel of Huron; sister-in-law, Adaline Reilly of Iroquois; brother-in-law, George Tapken of Wessington Springs; many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; one great granddaughter, Tianna Wilken; one sister, Jean Tapken; one brother, Richard Reilly; brother-in-law, Art Jager; sister-in-law, Nadine Reilly.
