Robert J. Mitzel, age 64, of Yale, died Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 1, 2016 at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron with burial at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Yale, SD.

Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, July 31st at Welter Funeral Home; or one hour prior to the funeral mass at the church.

Bob was born on November 2, 1951 in Aberdeen, SD to Richard and Mardine (Crogan) Mitzel. He attended school in Huron and graduated from Huron High School in 1970.

After high school, Bob enlisted in the S.D. Army National Guard and served for 7 ½ years.

He was united in marriage to Marilyn Maas on November 18, 1972 in Yale, SD.

Over the years, Robert worked for Peshel's Meat Market in DeSmet, Armour's, Swift Packing Plant, Dakota Pork, Yale Co-Op, and most recently Ellwein Brother's distributing in Huron.

He enjoyed sports, fishing, hunting, golfing and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.

Bob is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Yale; two sons, Tim (Tracy) Mitzel and Robbie (Erin) Mitzel, all of Sioux Falls; four grandchildren, Tyler, Tahia, Adelynn, and Emmett; two brothers, James (Voncille) Mitzel of Corryton, TN, and Thomas (Evelyn) Mitzel of Woonsocket, SD; three sisters, Theresa (Joel) Horn of Huron, Vickie Mitzel of Huron, and Karen (Tony) Broderson of Wolsey; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
