Robert B. "Bob" Mills, 80, died Monday, July 7, 2014, at Huron Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at First United Methodist Church with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens. Visitation with family present will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. CDT today at Welter Funeral Home, and one hour before services at the church. Bob was born June 9, 1934, in Clark to Robert and Lucille (Campbell) Mills. He grew up on a farm in Clark and Garden City and graduated from Garden City High School in 1952. Later that year, Bob began his long career with Northwestern Bell Telephone and retired in 1990. He married Ardis Eske in Clark on June 12, 1955, and together raised four children, Terry, Tim, Doug, and Sandie. Ardis passed away on March 5, 2004. He married Dorothy Johnson on Jan. 10, 2010, in Las Vegas. Bob was active in numerous things in Huron and along with Ardis, founded the Huron Little League. He served eight years on the Outdoor Recreation Commission, five years as Beadle County Commissioner, 17 years as president of the Huron Telco Credit Union, and was a member of the Huron Hall of Fame. Bob was also a past member of the Beadle County Sportsman and Huron Noon Lions Club. He was a lifelong hunter and in retirement enjoyed gardening, horticulture, and taking care of his lawn. Bob is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Huron; daughter, Sandie (Steve) Reecy of Edgemont; two sons, Terry (Julie Stone) Mills of Rapid City, and Tim (Misti) Mills of Gregory; two grandsons, Christopher Mills of Sioux Falls and Hunter Mills of Gregory; and two stepsons, Brice Johnson of Leavenworth, KS, and Wade (Kathy) Johnson of Virginia. Bob was preceded in death by his mother; stepfather, Paul Zugschwerdt; wife, Ardis; and son, Doug in 1983.
