Robert Lorne King, age 84, of Huron, SD passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the Huron Regional Medical Center. His Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at the Hitchcock United Methodist Church, with burial at the Altoona Cemetery in Hitchcock, SD and Military Honors by the American Legion Raymond-Hart Post #84. Visitation, with family present, will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron; or one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Robert Lorne King, the son of Daniel and Frances (Lomica) King was born on June 9, 1930 in Phillip, SD, where he attended school. Bob served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. Bob worked as a Bridge and Building Foreman for the Chicago-Northwestern Railroad for over 30 years until his retirement. Bob married Dixie Rae Hillmer on March 20, 1965 at the Methodist Church in Blunt, SD. They made their home in Blunt, SD until 1974, when they moved to Hitchcock, SD. In 1999 they moved to Huron. Bob attended the United Methodist Church in Hitchcock. He was also a member of the American Legion Raymond-Hart Post #84. Bob enjoyed tinkering on cars and lawnmowers, gardening, and watching the Minnesota Twins. Bob loved the rodeo and enjoyed working for Korkow Rodeo and Trucking. Grateful for having shared in Bob's life are his five children: Steven (Mary) King of Yankton, Billie Jo Jones of Watertown, Harold (Dar) King of Huron, Lorne (Jeanie) King of Virgil and Myron King of Watertown; six grandchildren: Morgan, Lindsey, Judd, Allison, Madisyn, and Abrielle; two brothers, Lowell (Thelma) King of Blunt, SD and Garry (Kay) King of Sheridan, WY; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Dixie in 2004; his infant sister; two brothers, Forrest (Bud) and Charles (Chuck); and three sisters: Delores, Mary Ellen, and Marilyn.
