Robert "Bob" L. Hiles, age 62, of Wolsey, died Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. His funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 29th at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wolsey with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be from 5-7 pm on Wednesday at the church with a prayer service at 7 pm; or one hour prior to the funeral service. Bob was born on January 10, 1953 in Huron to Richard and Elizabeth (Boomsma) Hiles. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Ann Buchheim on August 28, 1970 at American Lutheran Church in Huron. They made their home in the Wolsey area. Bob was active in the community having been involved with Wolsey Jaycees, Onward Wolsey, and St. John's Lutheran church council. He also shared his love of hunting and fishing with his children, grandchildren, and friends. Bob loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Over the years, Bob also enjoyed coaching softball, snowmobiling, checking crops and driving through the cattle at Hiles' Farm. He is survived by his wife, of 44 years, Carolyn Hiles of Wolsey; 2 daughters, Michelle (Paul) Johnson and Kris (Troy) Brandt, all of Wolsey; his parents, Richard (Peggy) Hiles and Liz (Tom Westphal) Hiles all of Huron; 5 grandchildren (who will also serve as casket bearers), Nathan Johnson, Ryne Johnson, Hunter Johnson, Caleb Brandt, and Elizabeth Brandt; 2 brothers, Russell Hiles and Tony (Kris) Hiles, both of Wolsey; 2 sisters, Julie (Kevin) Willis of Shelton, NE and Caycee (Jerad Carlson) Hiles of Kadoka; 2 sister's-in-law, Connie(Rod) Christopherson of Traverse City, MI; Cathy (Kelly) Kober of West Chester, PA; 2 brother's-in-law, Richard Buchheim of Traverse City, MI; Robert (Renae) Buchheim of Volga, SD. Bob was preceded in death by his grandparents; mother-in-law; and father-in-law.
