Robert Hilger, age 64, of 242 Frank Ave SE, Huron, died Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at his residence. His Prayer Service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 1st at the Welter Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Brandsrud officiating. Burial will be at the Cleveland Cemetery at Cleveland, Wisconsin. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 to 8:00 PM or Saturday until the time of service at the funeral home. His funeral service will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, September 4th at the United Methodist Church at Bloomer, Wisconsin. Robert Alvin Hilger was born on December 16, 1942, to Robert and Lorraine (Maurer) Hilger at Chippewa Falls, WI. He attended Keystone Country School and graduated from Cornell High School at Cornell, Wisconsin in 1961. He graduated from Chippewa Valley Technical College at Eau Claire, Wisconsin in 1964. On January 25, 1964, Robert married Sharon Johnson at Chippewa Falls, WI. They made their home in St. Paul, Minnesota where Robert was employed with Telelect Incorporated. On June 1, 1976, he became plant manager of Telelect Incorporated in Huron where he has lived since that time. On September 1, 1978, Robert became the owner and manager of Frontier Machine Tool in Huron. In 1990, Robert was employed with Trussbilt in Huron until his retirement in 2005. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and his hobbies were hunting, fishing, camping, reading, gunsmith and gardening. He is survived by 2 sons, Shawn (Carol) Hilger of Kenyon, MN and Robert Hilger of Burnsville, MN; 1 daughter, Shelley (Steven) Singewald of Hastings, MN; 1 step-son, Todd Tebockhorst; 1 step-daughter, Kimberly Bolt; 2 grandchildren, Christian and Jake Hilger; 2 step-grandchildren, Nicholas and Brandon Singewald; 1 brother, Doug (Sandra) Hilger of Cornell, WI; 1 sister, Jacquelyn Kiraly of Stanley, WI; a close family friend, Jerry Geyer of Huron and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother-in-law, Raymond Kiraly.
