Robert Fast, age 76, of Yale, SD, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the Huron Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 15, 2014 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron, with burial at St. Patrick Cemetery in Cavour, SD. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, September 14, at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron; or one hour prior to the service at the Church on Monday. Robert Fast, the son of David and Lydia (Stahl) Fast, was born on January 8, 1938 in Mora, MN where he attended school. Robert married Myrna Kay Wattier on June 15, 1960, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Bristol, SD. The couple lived on a farm near Iroquois until 1969. In 1970 they moved to a farm near Yale which they owned and operated until moving into Yale in 1998. Robert was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Yale CO-OP for many years. Robert enjoyed playing cards, Joker Poker, fishing and watching old Westerns. He loved the farm and would visit daily for coffee and cards. Robert also enjoyed the many pets he had had over the years, especially Muffy and Penny. Grateful for having shared in Robert's life are his four children: Wanda (Dave) Skeide of Webster, Wayne (Cheri) Fast of Yale, Wanita (Roger) Smith of Sioux Falls, and William (Mary Jane) Fast of Yale; nine grandchildren, Matthew Kvernevig, Nicholas (Alaina) Kvernevig, Erica (special friend, Scott Coughlin) Fast, Michael (Chantelle) Fast, Mitchell Smith, Andrew Smith, Brady Fast, Branden Fast, and Billie Jo (special friend, Kyle Purintun) Fast; five great grandchildren, Briana Kvernevig, Brailey Walls, Nathan Kvernevig, Chloe Kvernevig, and Avery Kvernevig; and several nieces and nephews Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Myrna in 2012; infant brother, Jimmy; two brothers, Wesley and Benny; two sisters, Burnice Fast and Ethel Hofer; and a son-in-law, Brian Kvernevig.
