Robert Bushman, age 83 of Huron, SD passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2020 at his home in Huron.  A private family service will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron with burial at the Riverside Cemetery in Huron, SD.

Robert Bushman, the son of Carl F. and Evelyn (Kuper) Bushman was born on September 13, 1936 in Huron, SD.  He attended school and graduated from Huron High school.  Robert served his country in the US Army and was honorably discharged, Robert worked for the Huron Police Department for many years until his retirement in 1985.

Robert was a member of the VFW.  Robert was an avid photographer and motorcycle enthusiast.  Bob was a volunteer for the fire department from 1966 to 1983, and even in retirement Bob could still be found at emergency scenes and served at the fire department photographer until his passing. He enjoyed putting together slide shows for the Huron High School class reunions. He also enjoyed feeding the birds, rabbits, and squirrels at his home or as he called them, his "livestock".

Robert loved baseball and was an avid supporter of Huron Little League Baseball. Bob was a faithful yearly sponsor for their 12U programs and donated $1,000 to the program every year for 32 years. The only thank you he ever wanted was a red hat from the Huron Little League. Bob often said that he loved seeing young people out and enjoying the game of baseball and you could often spot him on Tuesday nights just smiling and watching the kids play.

Grateful for having shared in Robert's life are his son, Kenneth Bushman; step-son Todd (Diane) Larimer of Plattsmouth NE; stepdaughter, Tracy (Jim) Beckwith of Huron, SD; and step-grandsons, Dustin (Ashley) Larimer of San Francisco, CA and Derek (Allyx) Larimer of Louisville, NE.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents. He will be greatly missed especially by those lives he touched.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials in Robert's name be sent to PO Box 232, Huron, SD 57350 for a later designation.
