Robert Bothwell, age 74, of Huron, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron. His Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 PM on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron.

Robert Ronald Bothwell was born on March 1, 1948 in Flandreau, South Dakota to parents Robert and Frances (Vaughn) Bothwell. Robert grew up in the Colman area and graduated from Rutland High School in 1966 and then attended South Dakota State University, graduating with his degree in 1970. After graduation, Robert started his career with USDA in the Rural Development program where he retired as Director after many years.

Bob married Kathleen Alberts in Brookings, SD in 1980.  In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, camping, boating and snow-skiiing. He always cheered for the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. In his younger years, he also liked to fly airplanes.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy of Huron; children, Travis (Sherri) Hunter of Huron, Ty Hunter of Huron, Tab Hunter of Arizona, Nikki (Shad) Karna of Rapid City, Noel (Brett) Larson of St. Joseph, MO, and Tammy Hunter of Huron; nine grandchildren, Jude, Derek, Bailee, Shane, Kaitlynn, Jacob, Cade, Brooke, and Grady; and his sister, Audrey (Verle) Thompson of Brookings.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
