Obituary

Richard W. Davis, age 75, of rural Carpenter, died Saturday, April 5, 2008. His funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with Father Terry Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 to 8:00 PM at the Welter Funeral Home with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM or one hour prior to the Mass at the church Wednesday morning. There will be a Scripture Service at 7:30 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home followed by a Rosary. Richard Wylie Davis was born on December 1, 1932, to Wylie and Anna (Bartels) Davis at Wessington, SD. He attended Sand Creek School and Wessington High School. He served in the United States Army from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1955. On October 22, 1955, Richard married Macy Piper. They made their home at rural Frankfort for 30 years and then rural Carpenter where he has lived since that time. He farmed for several years and a few years of custom farming before he was employed by Donavon Construction. He is survived by his wife, Macy Davis of rural Carpenter; 2 sons, Richard Davis of Cavour, and Todd (Carmen) Davis of Coldwater, KS; 1 daughter, Beth (Tim) Lueck of Carpenter, SD; 1 daughter-in-law, Tricia Davis of Huron; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Edrie Wiand of Huron, Doris Meier of Rapid City and Neda Fenski of Huron; 1 brother-in-law, Don Koch of Rapid City; 1 sister-in-law, Betty Davis of Cullman, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Brad Davis, one brother, Rollas and one sister, Arlene Koch.
