Renee Meyers, age 65, of Huron, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at her home in Huron. Her memorial service will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at American Lutheran Church in Huron with burial to follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
Renee Kay Meyers was born on March 17, 1954 in Huron, South Dakota to Robert and Leona (Woodhouse) Meyers. She attended Huron Public Schools and graduated in 1972. She later attended Lake Area Vocational Technical Institute in Watertown, SD with a degree in Geriatrics Science.
Renee cared for many children in her home throughout the years as a daycare provider. She moved to Denver, Colorado where she worked in a large daycare facility. While in Denver, she married Robert Sumeer and then later moved to New York City for a short time before returning to Huron. They later divorced and Renee continued to reside in Huron.
Renee loved to sing karaoke, rock and roll music, the Beatles and Bon Jovi. She also loved to write poetry, crossword puzzles, and the Beach Boys. She loved all of the children she took care of in her daycares. She was an active member of the American Lutheran Church all her life.
She is survived by her special friend, Kevin Slepikas of Huron; brothers Randy (Becky Jensen) Meyers of Huron, David Meyers of Huron and Mike (Leila) Woodhouse of Biloxi, MS; sisters Kathy (Clark) Peterson of Lisbon, ND, Lori (Don) Dailey of Mandan, ND and Darla (Loren Zundel) McCain of Forbes, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, an infant child, an infant brother Timothy, grandparents, aunts and uncles, her niece Emily Nelson and several cousins.
