Regina M. Johnson, age 96, of 50 7th St. SE, Huron, died Tuesday, February 6, 2007, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Friday, February 9, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Rinearson officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call this Thursday afternoon and evening and Friday morning at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Friday afternoon. Memorials may be directed to the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home Family Council, or the First United Methodist Church. Regina Johnson was born Regina Mary Buzeyn on February 17, 1910, to John and Amelia Buzeyn in Kingsbury County near Iroquois, SD. She attended school at Iroquois and Bancroft, SD. On September 8, 1928, Regina married Vern Johnson at the First Methodist Church in Huron. They farmed in the Bancroft and De Smet area until 1949 when they moved to a farm near Huron. They continued farming and Regina worked at Swift, Armour, Haggar Produce, and as a clerk at Farmers Market until her retirement. They moved into Huron in 1962. Reginas husband, Vern, died on July 5, 1984. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing cards, and was an excellent cook. She is survived by 2 sons, Robert (Mary) Johnson of De Smet, and Raymond (Madeline) Johnson of Huron; 3 daughters, Shirley (Arlie) Burnett of Huron, Wanda (Leo) Sevesind of Huron, and Audrey Bitner of Sioux City, IA; 14 grandchildren, Linda Lee, Rodney Johnson, Dave Johnson, Rog Johnson, Michael Johnson, Steve Johnson, Dennis Johnson, Carolyn Bitner, Susan VanDusen, Mary Watland, Daniel Sevesind, Debbie French, Jean Pike, and DeeAnn Weber; 16 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; 1 sister-in-law, Edith Nelson of Apache Junction, AZ; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vern; 1 brother; 1 sister; and 2 grandchildren.
