Raymond McDaniel, age 81, of Huron, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024 at Avantara in Huron with family by his side. A service to celebrate both Ray and Lana's lives will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron.

Raymond Homer McDaniel was born January 26, 1943, to Homer and Mable (Pownell) McDaniel. He grew up on the family farm along with his sisters Karon and DeeDee.  After graduation he attended Huron College.  On March 23, 1963, Raymond and Lana Martin were married in Bonilla and made their home in Huron.  Their children, Karla, arrived in 1963 and Kendall in 1969.

Raymond was active in softball in his younger years, but his passion was golf.  Even when he could no longer play due to his Rheumatoid arthritis, he enjoyed riding along with the guys.

It seemed everyone knew Ray.  From his years as a hog buyer, his participation in sports, the morning coffee groups or socializing at the Tailgate, he met so many friends.  His kids got away with very little in Huron that it didn't get back to Ray.

Raymond is survived by his daughter Karla (Dean) Weidner, son Kendall McDaniel; 3 grandchildren: Teri (Jay) Eichstadt, Lindsey Weidner, & Logan Weidner; 3 great grandchildren: Hadley, Hayes, and Harley; his sisters Karon (Ron) Ziegledorf and DeeDee (Ray) Wachter.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents Homer & Mable and his wife Lana.
