Raymond I. Housman, age 96, of 1345 Michigan Ave SW, Huron, died Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at the Huron Nursing Home. His funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 19, 2008 at the Welter Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Rinearson officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with Military Rites by the Huron Veterans Council. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 to 8:00 PM at the Welter Funeral Home or one hour prior to the service at the funeral home Saturday afternoon. Raymond Iler Housman was born October 18, 1911 in Sioux City, Iowa to Roy and Agnes (Schlader) Housman. He served in the Army during World War II. Raymond worked many years in the cattle business, later working for the State of South Dakota as part of the road maintenance department, he retired in 1976. He married Fannie Burger May 1, 1941 in Woonsocket. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Sharon Housman of Rapid City, and Eugene and Marilyn Housman of Rockford, IL; a daughter and son-inlaw Peggy and Don Larsen of Vermillion; eight grandchildren: Jennifer Orr, Scott Larsen, Dustin Larsen, Melissa Kribell, Tracie Crawford, Toni Jacobs, Marcus Housman and Nicole Poffinbarger; 16 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth Dake. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 sisters Jean and Marie, and one great grandchild August Kribell.
