Randy Gene Metter passed away December 20, 2015 at his home. He was born March 19, 1952 in Huron, South Dakota to Raymond and LaVonne (Hein) Metter. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Iroquois. He graduated from Iroquois High School in 1970 and attended Mitchell Vo-Tech for automotive mechanics. On October 5, 1973 he married RoseAnn McAdaragh and later married Cathi Lias on November 22, 1991.

As a youth Randy was active in 4-H, playing softball (where he first got his nose broken) and showing cattle at the State Fair. He served in the South Dakota Army National Guard and had worked at Beadle County Equipment for eight years.

Randy had farmed on the family farm, did custom work and later worked for Dennis Miedema. Randy loved riding his motorcycle, hunting and especially fishing and just watching his goldfish. He was known by some as the Dancing Bear. He played darts and was an awesome pool player.

Randy was operated on for a tumor on his brain which left him partially disabled with some vision problems and he suffered from severe coughing episodes. As a young adult, he was forever affected by the sudden untimely deaths of classmates and close friends Bernie Muilenburg, Wayne Franklin, and Laurie Dubro.

Randy is survived by his parents, three children, Heather (JJ) Lewis of Plankinton; Victoria (Brett) DeDeyne and Ryan Metter of Huron; six grand-children Logan Metter, Jayden, Layne, and Darian Lewis; Emrick and Kemrey DeDeyne; sister Debra Kates of Huron and sister-in-law Debra Metter of Cavour; one niece Beth (Kerry) Bruce of Glennville, Georgia and 2 nephews Casey Metter of Cavour and Chris (Alyse Fandrich) Kates of Glennville, Georgia and 7 great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister's brother, David Metter in January 2013.
