Phyllis Schroeder, age 78, of Tyndall, SD, and formerly of Huron and the Iroquois area, died Sunday, February 25, 2007, at the Good Samaritan Center at Tyndall. PHYLLIS' FUNERAL HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED AS FOLLOWS: Her funeral service will be at 1:30 PM Monday, March 5, at Trinity United Methodist Church at Iroquois with Rev. Kris Larson officiating. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery at Iroquois. Friends may call prior to the service at the church Monday afternoon. Phyllis Schroeder was born Phyllis M. Koster on January 3, 1929, to Paul and Florence (Shneller) Koster at Osceola, SD. She attended grade school at Osceola and graduated from Iroquois High School in 1947. Following graduation, she moved to Huron to work in the credit office for Montgomery Ward. On July 17, 1949, Phyllis married Kenneth H. Schroeder at Huron. In October of 1954, they moved to a farm 6 miles north of Iroquois. Later, Phyllis worked for 7 years at Raven Industries in Huron and 13 years at Raven Industries in De Smet. She retired in 1989 and the couple moved back to Huron. Due to failing health they moved to Avon, SD, in April of 2006, and both Phyllis and Ken became residents of the Good Samaritan Center at Tyndall in August of 2006. Following Kens death on October 31, 2006, Phyllis continued to live at the Good Samaritan Center fighting a battle against ALS (Lou Gehrigs) disease. She is survived by 1 daughter, Monica (Terry) Schultz of Avon, SD; 4 grandchildren, Scott Schultz, Nathan Schultz, Amy Schultz, and Natalie Schultz. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ken; 1 daughter, Jeaniene Kay Schroeder in 1951; and 1 son, Gary Lee Schroeder in 1991.
