Phyllis Moeding, age 89, of Huron, formerly of Cavour, died Monday, July 6, 2015 at SunQuest Healthcare Center in Huron. Her funeral service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, July 9, 2015 at American Lutheran Church with burial at Maplewood Cemetery in Iroquois. Visitation with family present will be 5-7 pm Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Welter Funeral Home with a 6:30 pm prayer service; or Thursday afternoon one hour prior to the service at the church. Phyllis Maxine Westerberg was born on February 16, 1926, in Esmond, South Dakota to Werner and Emma (Rusch) Westerberg. She attended school in Esmond before graduating from Iroquois High School in 1944. Phyllis married Paul Moeding on November 18, 1944 in Luverne, Minnesota. Phyllis attended a summer program in Spearfish to earn her Teaching Certificate. She taught country school for several years in Beadle County. Phyllis also worked for Northwestern Public Service, Magness Livestock Market, and the Farmer's Co-op Elevator in Cavour. She kept books for her husband, Paul's Trucking and custom harvesting companies, and on occasion, jumped into the driver's seat to help out. Phyllis enjoyed word searches, scrabble, playing the organ, and playing bingo. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were a big source of joy in Phyllis' life and she enjoyed spending every moment she could with them. Phyllis is survived by her son, Tom (Deanna) Moeding of Cavour; two grandchildren, Daphne (Eddie) Moeller of Cavour, and David (Megan) Moeding of Sioux Falls; two great grandchildren, Britney Moeller and Madelynn Moeding. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Paul on May 24, 1998.
