Phyllis J. Kohlmeyer, age 81, of Huron and formerly of Wolsey, passed away on Wednesday, September 02, 2020 at Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 11, 2020 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wolsey with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday morning. Please follow CDC guidelines and masks are encouraged. Phyllis Jean Kohlmeyer was born on February 16, 1939 to parents Floyd and Pearl (Cummings) Hammers in Huron, South Dakota. She attended grade school in Clifton Township for 8 years and Alpena High School graduating in 1957.
Phyllis married Max Kohlmeyer in Huron on February 26, 1966. She and Max farmed in Allen Township and lived there for 54 years before moving into Huron. Phyllis enjoyed being a farmer's wife and loved to sew, bake and garden. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church for 54 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Devin Kohlmeyer; half-brother, Johnnie (Marty) Hammers; half-sister, Lucille (Bob) Hamilton; sisters-in-law, Doris Kohlmeyer and Amanda (Arnold) Noack; brothers-in-law, Marcus Kohlmeyer, Leonard Kohlmeyer, and Nathaniel Kohlmeyer.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of 54 years, Max of Huron; children, Valerie (Donnie) Hoffman of Martinsburg, WV, Vincent (Brenda) Jager of Huron, Brenda (Jeff) Sievers of Wolsey, and Jeffrey (Benita) Kohlmeyer of Round Rock, TX; 10 grandchildren, Tyler (Koel) Sievers, Jacob Sievers, Aubrey, Collin, Jenna, and Ethan Kohlmeyer, Danette (Eric) Larsen, Danelle Doop, Dustin Wieting and Danita Wieting; 8 great-grandchildren, Tate and Kaydence Sievers, Chloe and Dawson Doop, Nora, Laci, and Michael Larsen, and Hendrix Lyman; sisters-in-law, Corrine Kohlmeyer, Phyllis Kohlmeyer, and Beverly Kohlmeyer, all of Huron; many nieces and nephews; and her special cousin, Phyllis Wise of Sioux Falls.
