Phyllis Cheeseman, age 81, of 1345 Michigan Ave SW and formally of 9 Nicollet Ave SW, died Monday, January 3, 2005 at the Huron Nursing Home. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Friday, January 7th at the Welter Funeral Home with Clinton and MaryAnn Tschetter officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday afternoon after 2:00 PM and evening or Friday afternoon until the time of service at the Welter Funeral Home. The family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Phyllis Cheeseman was born Phyllis Anderson on January 13, 1923, to Martin and Martha Anderson in their home in Doland, SD. They soon moved to Virgil, SD, then onto a farm by Wolsey were Phyllis spent the rest of her childhood days. She graduated high school in Wolsey and married Robert Cheeseman on Jan. 13th, (her birthday), in 1948 in Huron. He built the home in Huron where they would live for as long as they were physically able. Phyllis was a vital member of society. She catered many events that took place both in and out of her home and was active in her church and local politics for as long as her health permitted. She was survived by three children, Craig Cheeseman of Florida, David Cheeseman of North Carolina and Marth Anne Cheeseman of North Carolina; four grandchildren: Curt Cheeseman, Amy Speed, Heather Ellis and CJ Kromery; and six great-grandchildren: Gage, Hayleigh, MyKayla, Jeremy, Savanah and Robert. Her parents, two brothers and her husband of 53 years preceded her in death. Her family and friends will miss her dearly.
