Peter Havard, age 54, of Wessington Springs, SD, died Sunday, July 24, 2011, at Weskota Manor in Wessington Springs. His memorial service will be 11:00 am Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Wessington Springs with burial of his cremated remains in Eventide Cemetery in Woonsocket. A memorial prayer service will be 7:30 pm Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at United Methodist Church in Wessington Springs. Peter Havard was born July 14, 1957 in Gary, IN, to Guy and Virginia (Mason) Havard. He graduated from Edison High School in Lake Station, IN, and later attended tech school to be a mechanic. Peter married Becky Maxwell in 1979, and to this union was born two children, Peter W. and Tracey. In 1993, Peter moved to Wessington Spring, were he formed a partnership with Darrell's Rock, Sand, and Gravel called Pete's Truck & Equipment Repair. The partnership was dissolved in 1996, but Peter continued to work for Darrell, until 2002. Peter then started his own business, AM/PM Repair, which he ran until his health forced him to retire in late 2010. Peter enjoyed fishing, but rarely allowed himself the time to go. Peter is survived by his mother, Virginia (Roger Cashman) Havard of Wessington Springs; son, Peter W. Havard of Sioux Falls; daughter, Tracey (Carey Carlson) Havard of IN; five grandchildren, Domanick and Madix Havard, Katelynn, Christopher, and Cody Carlson; one brother, David Havard; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Vanessa, Rikelle, and Desirea. Peter was preceded in death by his father, Guy; three brothers, Paul, Joel, and Phillip; and one nephew, Jason.
