Obituary

Pete A. Dormady, age 90, of Burnsville, MN and formerly of Huron, passed away on Friday, March 11th at Ebenezer Ridges Care Center in Burnsville.

Cremation has taken place and his Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with military honors by the Huron Veteran's Council. Inurnment will be at St. Martins Cemetery.

Memorial visitation with the family present will be from 9:30 -11:00 am at the church.

Pete was born on August 26, 1925 in Ashland, Wisconsin to Peter L. and Adeline (Otto) Dormady. The Dormady family moved from Middleton WI to Huron when Pete was 17 years old. There he met his future bride, Peggy Mahowald. Pete enlisted in the US Coast Guard in 1944 where he spent two years during WWII. After the service, he moved back to Huron where he married his sweetheart, Peggy in 1947.

Pete worked for Chicago Northwestern Railroad until he started work with the Huron Public School system where he worked until his retirement in 1990. During those years, Pete served as a Huron City Commissioner for several years.

Pete was an avid sports fan, especially his beloved Chicago Bears and Notre Dame Football teams. Pete also enjoyed playing cards.

Pete is survived by his wife of 69 years, Peggy Dormady; his daughters, Kathy Waldorf and Jeanne Dormady; his son, Bob (Tami) Dormady; his daughter's-in-law, Ann and Carol Dormady; his grandchildren, Josh (Christina) Dormady, Becki (Tim Wolske) Dormady, Tracy (Karen) Appelbaum, Tony (Katie) Goembel; his great-grandchildren, Lexi, Ella, Maddy, Kelsey, Evelyn, and Ian; his sisters, Patsy (Dennis) Classick, Mary Alice (Elmer) Bartel, Jane Kosse, Gigi (Gary) Allen, Sally Bayles, Kitty (Roger) Johnson; his brother, Mike (Jennifer) Dormady; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Tom and Larry Dormady; brother, Jim; his sister, Muggs; and his parents, Peter and Adeline.

The Dormady family would like to give a special thank you to Ebenezer Ridges Care Center and Fairview Hospice for the compassionate care they gave to Pete.
