Paul Nelson, age 49, of Huron, died on Sunday, November 13, 2011, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. His Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 17, 2011, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron with burial at the Riverside Cemetery in Huron. His Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron; or one hour prior to the service at the Church on Thursday. Paul Nelson, the son of Robert J. and Mary Anne (Sikorra) Nelson, was born on January 14, 1962, in Huron, SD. Paul attended schools and graduated from Huron High School. He also attended Minnesota West Community and Technical College in Pipestone, MN and learned bricklaying. He worked as a welder for several manufacturing companies including Terex Manufacturing, Jeluss Manufacturing, and Horizontal Manufacturing. Paul was also a truck driver for Stan's Trucking in Alpena and most recently for Consolidated Redi-Mix. Paul was a member of the Kansas City Barbeque Society and was a certified Barbeque Judge. He loved riding his motorcycle, fishing, cooking, and barbequing. Paul was an accomplished pilot and flew helicopters. Grateful for having shared in his life are his mother, Mary Anne Nelson, of Huron, SD; brother, Patrick (Jennifer) Nelson, of St. Paul, MN; 3 sisters: Carol (Rodney) Tompkins, of Huron, SD, Roberta Rosenblum, of Apple Valley, MN, and Kristine Nelson, of Lakeville, MN; and several nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his father, Robert James Nelson in 1988; and his grandparents.
