Paul A. Ford, age 50, of Huron, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at the Royal C. Johnson VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

His funeral service will be at 10:30 am on Monday, January 2, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church in Huron with interment and military honors at Crow Lake Cemetery near Wessington Springs. Visitation with the family present will be from 4-6 pm on Sunday, January 1, 2017 with a prayer service and time of sharing beginning at 6pm at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron; or visitation one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.

Paul was born on February 17, 1966 in Huron, SD to Earl and Darlene (Kolousek) Ford.  The family homestead was in Huron, SD where Paul graduated from Huron High School.  He enjoyed competing in cross-country, track, basketball, and baseball during his school days.  After graduating he enlisted in the US Army for the next 8 years.  Over those years, he lived in El Paso, Texas and Fairbanks, AK.  Paul had a beautiful daughter Veronica Ford that was the light of his life.  After the military, he moved to Denver, CO where he worked as a dental assistant.  In 2002, Paul and Veronica moved back to Huron, SD where he lived until February 2016.  Paul worked as a dental assistant in Huron, SD for Dakota Family Dentistry until mid-2014.  He was then employed with Casey's General Store as the Kitchen Manager in Huron.  After his diagnosis in February 2016, Paul moved to Sioux Falls, SD where he resided until his passing.

Paul enjoyed hunting, bowling, throwing darts, playing games (board games and cards), and hanging out with family and friends.  He loved interacting with people and everyone loved him.  Paul was the life of any gathering and would go out of his way to make everyone feel welcomed.

Grateful for having shared his life are his daughter Veronica Ford of Mitchell, sister Donna (Steve) Schneider of Ellsworth KS, sister Diane Ford of Las Vegas NV, twin brother Pat (Alissa) Ford of Sioux Falls SD, brother Bernard Ford of Wessington Springs SD, niece Jessica (Cole) Zachgo of Lincoln KS, niece Sami Ford of Sioux Falls SD, niece Courtney Bauer Ford of Dilworth MN, nephew Ethan Ford of Huron SD, nephew Brandon Ford of Sioux Falls SD, niece Aubrey Ford of Sioux Falls SD, great niece Harper Zachgo of Lincoln KS, and many special uncles, aunts, cousins, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, niece Tina (Schneider) Deiser, grandparents Pete and Ione Kolousek and Bernard and Cecilia Ford
