Patrick A. "Pat" Fitzmaurice, age 63, of Alpena, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Huron Regional Medical Center.

His funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, August 22, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Huron with interment at Rest Haven Cemetery in Alpena.

Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7 pm on Sunday, August 21st at Welter Funeral Home; or one hour prior to the service at the church.

Pat was born on November 15, 1952 in Redfield, SD to Richard and Darlene (Waldner) Fitzmaurice. He graduated from Iroquois High School in 1971 and worked for many years around Huron, primarily in road construction.

Pat was united in marriage to Hazel Laird on January 4, 2000 in Huron.

He loved to play "Santa" during the Christmas holiday. Pat also enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, talking on the phone, listening to music and spending time with his family and friends.

Pat is survived by his wife, Hazel of Alpena; his mother, Darlene Fitzmaurice of Huron; three sons, Cody Laird of Wolsey, Alan Fitzmaurice of Sioux Falls, and Jessie Fitzmaurice of Sioux Falls; 1 daughter, Anni (Todd Howard) Laird of Beresford, SD; 4 grandchildren, Peyton Laird, Caitlyn Kogel, Ashtyn Kogel, and Krista Fitzmaurice; 2 brothers, Mike (Patty) Fitzmaurice of Hartford, SD, and Dick (Karen) Fitzmaurice of Ogilvie, MN; two aunts, Marion Clements of Willmar, MN and Millie Fitzmaurice of Augusta, WI; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pat was preceded in death by his father, Richard; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joe and Louise Laird; and his brother-in-law, Luke Laird.
