Patricia J. Songer, age 65, of 438 Frank Ave SE, Huron, died Saturday, June 2, 2007 at the Avera Heart Hospital at Sioux Falls. Her Memorial Service will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 6th at the Welter Funeral Home with Captain Gerry Loos officiating. Burial will be at Ideal Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Patricia Songer was born Patricia Jean Moeding on December 9, 1941, to Henry William and Elsie (Lambert) Moeding at Huron. She grew up in Huron and attended Morningside grade school and Huron High School. Patricia married Melvin Songer in Huron in 1997. She lived in Huron all her life. She was employed at the Huron Nursing Home for a time and at Bales Continental at the Chuck Wagon Cafe. She enjoyed planting and growing flowers and going to rummage sales. She is survived by her husband Melvin of Huron; 1 son, James Moeding of Huron; 4 step-sons, Darrell (Karie) Songer of Huron, Donald (Jodie) Songer of Wolsey, Douglas Songer of Huron and Duane (Ruth) Songer of Huron; 1 step-daughter, Caroline (Kurt) Wallace of Watertown; 8 step-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Ruth Nickel of Huron and Linda Bennett of Huron; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, James, Walter, Richard, William and Ben, 2 sisters, Betty Moeding and JoAnn Maunders.
