Pat was born February 27, 1947 in Huron, South Dakota to Leo and Inez (Weber) Schmidtgall. She was baptized and confirmed at Virgil Methodist Church. She graduated from Alpena High School in 1965. Aside from a brief move to California with her parents after high school graduation, the Alpena area was home to Pat her entire life. She enjoyed a brief career in banking following her high school graduation, but her true calling was to be a farm wife, mom and grandma. Pat and her high school sweetheart, Ivan Kopfmann, were married on August 13, 1966 in Alpena and were blessed with 52 years of marriage.
Pat enjoyed reading, spending time talking to her horses and dogs, watching WWE, and helping Ivan on the farm. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pat is survived by her husband Ivan Kopfmann of Alpena; sons Todd (Mary) Kopfmann of Alpena, Stacey (Pam) Kopfmann of Wessington Springs and daughter Kim (Dave) Deines of Marshall, MN; mother Inez Grace of Wessington Springs; 8 grandchildren: Kayla (Jamie) Carlson, Kaleb Kopfmann (fiancé Jenn Simpson), Brett (Brooke) Kopfmann, Becky (Evan) Muller, Bryce Kopfmann, Jacob, Joshua & Jaden Deines; 4 great-grandchildren: Caylee, Chloe, Cohen and Davin and many loved cousins and in-laws.
Pat was preceded in death by her father Leo Schmidtgall, step-father Irl Grace, and many loved aunts and uncles, cousins and in-laws.
