Patricia Kearney, age 87, of Huron, SD and formerly of Hitchcock, SD passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the Huron Regional Medical Center.  Her funeral service will be on Monday, July 1, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Welter Funeral Home, with burial at the Altoona Cemetery in Hitchcock. Visitation will be from 2-4 PM on June 30, 2019 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron; or one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Patricia A. Kearney was born on September 14, 1931 to parents John K. and Elda Ruth (Conrad) Bennett near Huron in Beadle County. Patricia attended Pleasant View Township School, Broadland School and Huron Schools, graduating in 1949.

Patricia married Lyle G. Kearney on December 2, 1950 in Mitchell, SD. Patricia and Lyle lived in Montana, Iowa and New Mexico due to Lyle's teaching jobs.

Patricia was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Redfield Post and the Black Hills Area Decorative Painters. Patricia enjoyed decorative painting, needle work and genealogy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Gene Kenneth Bennett, John Eldon (Catherine) Bennett, one sister Ella Virginia Weber; three brothers-in-law, Don Barton, Glenn Lashwood, and Hal Weber; her husband Lyle Kearney in 2001 and one nephew John Bennett.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her children; Roxan (Gregory) Bixler of Huron and Randall (LaVonne Kjelden) of Sioux Falls; five grandchildren, Zane (Lyza) Bixler, Jacob (Jessica) Bixler, Rebecca (Scott) Gilbert, Danielle Vis, and Joseph Kearney; 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; sister Jessie Barton of Huron.
