Parke D. Hoskins, age 90, of Huron, formerly of Wolsey, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at SunQuest Healthcare Center in Huron. His body has been cremated and his memorial service will be 10:00 am Monday, August 5, 2013, at Welter Funeral Home with a private burial at Wolsey Cemetery including military honors by American Legion Hershman-Gordon Post #59 of Wolsey. Memorial visitation with family present will be from 6-8 pm Sunday, August 4, 2013, at Welter Funeral Home; or Monday morning one hour prior to the service. Parke D. Hoskins was born on July 10, 1923, near Wolsey, to Roy D. and Nettie C. (Parke) Hoskins. He graduated from Wolsey High School in 1941. Parke farmed with his father and brother, Ed, until he entered into the U.S. Army in June 1945. He served in Berlin, Germany, as a supply technician and received an Army of Occupation World War II Victory Medal. After he was honorably discharged in 1946, he returned to Wolsey and resumed farming with his family. Parke was also a substitute rural Mail Carrier for over 43 years. He reluctantly retired from farming because of health reasons in 2007. Parke was a life member of the American Legion Hershman-Gordon Post #59 and VFW Forrest McMullen Post #1776. He was also the sexton at Wolsey Cemetery for many years and a member of the NRA. Parke was a volunteer firefighter and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wolsey. He truly enjoyed the coffee and conversation at the Rolling Wheel and always had a story to tell. Parke could be found many days, driving the countryside and inspecting crops. He always enjoyed spending time with his family, especially during the holidays. Parke is survived by his sister-in-law, Lillian Hoskins of Wolsey; nephews, Charles (Sandy) Jungemann of Greensburg, KS, and Randal Jungemann of Wolsey; nieces, Lynn Nett (Robert) Wagner of Wolsey, and D'Ann (Dennis) Fromm of Huron; great nieces and nephews, Michael (Connie) Jungemann of Ponchatoula, LA, Jennifer (Ted) Haeder of Wolsey, Justin (Nicole) Wagner of Clark, Desirae (Bryce) French of Bonilla, Holly (Jim) Van Buskirk of Hitchcock, and Shayla (Chad) French of Huron; great great nieces and nephews, Gracie Jungemann, Emily Jungemann, Cooper Haeder, Cash Haeder, Emma Haeder, Timber Haeder, Reagan Wagner, Jada Wagner, Corbin Wagner, Jorja Wagner, Tate French, Riley French, Parker Van Buskirk, Kade Van Buskirk, and Mercedez French. Parke was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edward Hoskins; nephew, Larry Hoskins; and great nephew, Adam Fromm.
