Pam McAloon, age 50, of Huron died Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Following her wishes, her body has been cremated and her memorial service will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron. Memorial visitation with family present will be from 6-8 pm Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron. Pamela Patricia McAloon was born on May 25, 1964 in Covina, CA and was raised by loving parents, William and Lorraine Wharton in Huron. After an adventuresome childhood, she graduated from Huron High School in 1983. Pam married Tim McAloon on June 10, 1989 at St. Martin's Catholic Church. She worked various jobs including at the Plainsman, the Huron School District, and as an in home elderly healthcare worker. Pam always stayed busy and was always helping people. Pam had an on and off battle with breast cancer since 2010. She was a member of the After Breast Cancer support group. Pam enjoyed gardening, caring for her dogs, traveling, and causing mischief. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her beloved daughters. Pam is survived by her two daughters, Alissa McAloon of Madison, Nicole McAloon of Huron; her parents, Bill and Lorraine Wharton of Huron; her siblings, Darrell (Jean) Wharton of Huron, Wayne Wharton of Aurora CO, Cindy (Brian) Neuharth of Wolsey, Tammy (Scott) Slepikas of Huron, Kristy (Doug) Anderson of Sioux Falls, Anita (Bob) Tomczak of El Paso, TX, Scott Wharton of Huron, Paulette (John) Thompson of Trinity, TX, Katherine (Mike) Moorhouse of Crystal Beach, TX, Chris Harrah of Cleveland, TX; special Aunt, Shirley Overland of Custer, SD; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Pam was preceded in death by her sisters, Carla Wharton and Christine Harrah; her brother, Dan Cheek; birth parents, James and Margaret Cheek; and uncle, Ernie Overland.
