Pablo Torres, age 68, of Huron died Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Sanford (USD) Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

His funeral will be 1:00 pm Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron with burial in Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation with family present will be from 5-7 pm Friday, June 15, at Welter Funeral Home; or one hour prior to the service.

Pablo Torres was born on January 29, 1950 to Ramiro Aguirre and Romana Torres in Chihuahua, Mexico.  He moved constantly with his family around the country following the harvest. Pablo came to America when he was 17 and taught himself English. He was on his last step to becoming a United States citizen.

Pablo married Rosita Saldana on June 23, 1973 in Torrington, Wyoming where they were both working the sugar beet harvest.  The couple then moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin for several years before they moved to Huron in 1981.  Pablo worked in packing houses in Huron; Armour's, Swift, and Dakota Pork until 1997 when it closed. He also worked for Cronin Dairy farm for 34 years. He was a very hard worker all of his life and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Pablo was a man of many words and enjoyed visiting with friends and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  Pablo and Rosita also enjoyed traveling and taking camping trips almost every year. Pablo enjoyed thrift store and bargain shopping as well as cookouts with family and friends. He enjoyed vehicle shopping and was proud of the fact that he bought and paid for 31 new trucks during his lifetime.

Pablo is survived by four children; Romana (Angel) Olivo of Huron, Jaime (Kylea) Torres of Jamestown, ND, Pablito (Rachel) Torres of Huron, Roberto Torres of Huron; 9 grandchildren; two brothers, Jesus and Ramon; five sisters, Maria, Evangelina, Delia, Ilde, and Romelia; and many nieces and nephews.

Pablo was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Rosita in 2015, and his brother Luis.
