Olga Borah, age 89, of Huron, SD, died Monday, October 19, 2009, at SunQuest Healthcare Center in Huron.
Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 24, at American Lutheran Church with burial at Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 1-8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home with family present from 6-8 p.m.; or Saturday morning one hour prior to the service at the church.
Olga Borah was born Olga Jeanine Bernice Bergquist, daughter of Axel and Ida (Fagerstrom) Bergquist, on October 6, 1920, in Huron, SD. She graduated from Huron High School in 1939 and worked several years at Humphrey Drugstore.
On November 1, 1942, Olga married Carmon Borah in Huron, where she has lived her entire life.
She was a lifelong member of American Lutheran Church and Deborah Circle. She belonged to several organizations including Huron Lioness Club; Sons of Norway; YWCA; Girls Birthday Group; and Rovers Camping Club.
Among her many interests were music, reading, walking, baking, quilting, camping, and most of all her family, grandchildren, and many friends.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Janice (John) Fathke of Avon, SD, and Maureen (James) Eichstadt of DeForest, WI; 1 son, Jay (Joyce) Borah of Huron, SD; 8 grandchildren, John C. Fathke, Jed (Maureen) Fathke, Jill (Jon) Vavruska, Natalie (Bil) Aldrich, Erik Eichstadt, Jamie (Cris) Peterson, Jeffrey (Addie Wolcott) Borah, and Jason (Theresa) Borah; 3 great grandchildren, Jayda Peterson, John A. Fathke, and Jack A. Fathke; 3 sisters-in-law, Pearl Bergquist of Huron, SD, Norma (Ralph) Marking of Eau Claire, WI, and Lois Borah of Huron, SD; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carmon on September 9, 1983; 4 sisters and their spouses, Abbie (Emerson) Hageman, Ruth (Frank) Bryant, Ida (Art) Henrickson, and Doris (George) Persing; 1 brother, Arthur Bergquist;
