Norma French, age 69, of rural Cavour, died Sunday, January 8, 2006, at the Huron Nursing Home. Her Memorial Service will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 14, at the Welter Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Rinearson officiating. Burial of her cremated remains will be at the Community Cemetery, rural Cavour, at a later date. There will be no visitation. Norma French was born Norma J. Erickson on August 25, 1936, to Alden and Margaret (Rademacher) Erickson at Amherst, SD. As a small girl she moved with her family to Willow Lake, SD, where she grew up and attended elementary school and Willow Lake High School. On April 17, 1954, Norma married Richard Stanley. Norma worked for a short period of time as a waitress; helped on the dairy farm that her parents owned; owner/operator of the Doland Supper Club in Doland; manager of the Huron Moose Lodge; owner/operator of the Pioneer Supper Club in Lake Preston; and owner/operator of the N&R Bar in Cavour. She retired in 1990 after suffering a stroke. On July 23, 1979, Norma married Nels Junior Hein. On December 12, 1988, Norma married Marvin French. She was a member of the Moose Lodge in Huron, and the VNEA Pool League in Cavour. Her many interests included playing cards, playing billiards, visiting with people, watching the Green Bay Packers on television, traveling, her kittens and black Labradors, and fishing. She is survived by 2 sons, Jim Stanley of Huron, and George (Carla) Stanley of Brookings; 1 daughter, Jeannie (Ross) Jensen of Huron; 3 grandchildren, Justin Stanley, Tara Jacobs, and Jeremy Hein; 2 brothers, Kenneth (Shirley) Erickson of Watertown, and Keith Erickson of Clutier, IA; 2 sisters, Carol (Bob) Faiman of Fargo, ND, and Colleen Lenling of Williston, ND; 1 brother-in-law, Lyle Carter of Watertown; and a very special friend, Marvin. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 husbands, Richard Stanley, and Nels Junior Hein; an infant granddaughter, Jennifer Stanley; 1 sister, Mary Lou Carter; and 1 sister-in-law, Joanne Erickson.
