Niel Hansen, age 81, of Huron, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025 at Avantara Norton in Sioux Falls.  A private graveside service will be held to commemorate Niel's life.

Niel Hansen was born on July 8, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, to Niel Hansen and Eleanora (Cyra) Hansen. He was raised in Chicago and spent the early part of his career working as a butcher at Jewel Foods in the suburbs, a position he held for fifteen years. He later became a local delivery driver in the Chicago area, a role he held with dedication for over thirty years.

Above all, Niel cherished time spent with his family and children. He had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time. One of his most treasured possessions was a duck call gifted to him by his father.

Niel is survived by his sons: Niel (Barb) Hansen of Olivehurst, CA; Scott (Kristen) Hansen of Sioux Falls; and Eric (Michelle) Hansen of Orangeville, CA. He is also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Scott (Aichan) Hansen, Amelia, Emmett, and Isaac.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Corrine Liner; and his brothers, Roy Hansen, Fred Hough, and Ken Hough.
