Neill W. Binger, age 81, of Hitchcock, SD passed away on Wednesday, May 06, 2015 at the Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen, SD. His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2015 at the Bonilla Presbyterian Church in Bonilla, SD with burial at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Huron, SD and Military Honors by the Huron Veterans Council. Visitation with the family present will be held from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, May 10 at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron, SD with a prayer service to begin at 6:30 p.m.; or one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Neill Wayne Binger, the son of Reuben and Irene (McNeill) Binger, was born on October 11, 1933 on the family farm in Bonilla, SD. He attended area school and graduated from Bonilla High School. Neill served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1956. He worked as a farmer for his entire life. Neill married Harriet Elaine Cockrell on March 27, 1954 at the First United Methodist Church in Tulare, SD. They made their home on the family farm near Hitchcock, SD. Neill was a member of the Bonilla Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder for many years. He was also a member of the Hitchcock American Legion. Neill served on the Bonilla Township Board and the Hitchcock School Board as well. Neill enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved to travel the countryside and check the fields of the local farms. Neill enjoyed spending time with his family and friends especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Grateful for having shared in Neill's life are his wife Harriet of Hitchcock, SD; his four children : Debra (Rod) Schaefer, of Brookings, SD, Karen (Lenny) Peterson of Hitchcock, SD, Greg (Debbie) Binger of Hitchcock, SD, and Gina (Loren) Haak of Yankton, SD ; seventeen grandchildren: Matthew (Amy) Schaefer, Kyle (Rachel) Schaefer, Mitchell (Miranda) Peterson, Chase (Cyndi) Binger, Dylan ( his fiance, Megan) Binger, Payton Binger,Ashtyn Haak, Logan Haak, Lance Haak, Carson Haak, Tara Schaefer, Kassie (Jacob) Boomsma, Randi (Mikinley) Albrecht, Brooke Peterson, Alyssa Binger, LaMour Binger, and Presley Binger; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy LeGrand of Huron, SD; and many nieces and nephews. Neill was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Irene Binger, brother, Gilbert Binger; sister, Mariann Bartee; a sister in infancy, Gwendolyn; four brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.
