Nathaniel M. Kohlmeyer, age 87, of Huron, passed way on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron.
His funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with burial to follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3-7 pm with the family present from 5-7 pm and a prayer service beginning at 6:30 pm on Friday, September 28, 2018 at Welter Funeral Home.
Nathaniel Max Kohlmeyer was born on May 13, 1931 in Wolsey, South Dakota to Carl F. and Elsie M. (Witthoeft) Kohlmeyer. Nathaniel went to Weeks Country School, graduating the 8th grade.
Nathaniel married Corinne L. Friese on September 21, 1958 in Huron. To this union, two sons were born, Ricky and Ronald. Nathaniel was a mechanic and worked for Verschoor's Chevrolet, and Sears and Roebuck. Nathaniel was a brake system specialist for over 30 years. Nate really enjoyed fixing things other than cars. It seemed there was nothing he couldn't fix.
Nathaniel was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Wolsey until 1957 when he moved to Huron and became a member at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Nathaniel was a wonderful Husband and Father. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He especially loved a good cup of coffee and visiting with his friends at the Plains Restaurant.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marcus Kohlmeyer, Leonard Kohlmeyer and Marcel in infancy; and sisters, Doris Kohlmeyer and Amanda Noack.
Nathaniel is survived by his wife of 60 years, Corinne of Huron; children, Ricky (Sherri) Kohlmeyer of Huron and Ronald (Molly) Kohlmeyer of Summerset, SD, one grandson, Daniel Kohlmeyer of Huron; siblings Max (Phyllis) Kohlmeyer of Wolsey, sisters-in-law, Phyllis Kohlmeyer and Beverly Kohlmeyer, both of Huron.
