Nancy Lee Mead, age 77, of Huron, SD, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the SunQuest Healthcare Center in Huron.

Her Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the Huron Baptist Church.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Nancy Lee North, the daughter of Leon and Bernice (Whalen) North, was born on August 7, 1939 in Pierre, SD.  Nancy married Loren E. Mead on January 1, 1965 in Huron, SD.  The couple made their home in Huron and raised their three children. Nancy moved to the Sun Quest Healthcare Center in 2010.

Nancy was a member of the Huron Baptist Church. Nancy enjoyed playing Bingo and doing crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed country music and going to dances at the Plains in Huron.  Nancy loved spending time with her family and friends especially her grandchildren.  Nancy had a big heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

Grateful for having shared in Nancy's life are her three children: Corey Mead of Osage, IA, Ginger Mead of Elgin, MN, and Deloris (Kendall) McNutt of Huron, SD; five grandchildren: Loren Mead, Byron Mead, Claudia Mead, Stephanie McNutt, and Michael McNutt; six step-grandchildren: Candice Bentley, Mike Lawson, Dillon Bentley, Jessika Bentley, Isaac Hubka, and Hanna Swancutt;   two great-grandchildren: Samantha Mead and James Jilk;  brother, Tom Hickcock of Tennessee; sister, Gayla Vincent of Huron, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Loren in 1985; daughter, June; and sister Georgia Ann Grier.
