Obituary

Myron M. Baye, age 79, of Iroquois, SD, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the Huron Regional Medical Center.

His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Welter Funeral Home with burial at the Maplewood Cemetery in Iroquois.

Myron M. Baye, the son of Joseph and Madeline (Mausbach) Baye, was born on September 25, 1937 in Huron, SD.  He attended school and graduated from Iroquois High School.  Myron worked as a school bus driver and mechanic for DeJong's Service Station in Cavour, SD, but his real passion was farming and he farmed for many years until his retirement.

Myron married Mary Jean Scheid on October 4, 1958 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cavour, SD.  The couple made their home on the family farm where they raised their four children.

Myron was a member of ASCS Board.  He was also the Logan Township Treasurer for many years.  Myron enjoyed birdwatching, making puzzles and picture frames, going out to eat at the Plains, and his dog, Daisy.  He loved collecting antiques and toy tractors. He also was very proud of his John Deere Model B tractor, which he restored with his son, and his Minneapolis Moline Tractors and driving them in parades.

Myron enjoyed pheasant season, visiting and snowmobiling with his neighbors.  He also enjoyed Sunday night suppers and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Myron was full of laughter and his laugh would bring a smile to everyone who heard it.

Grateful for having shared in Myron's life are his wife, Mary Jean of Iroquois, SD; son, Mike (Lori) Baye; three daughters, Jean (Roger) Walls, Teresa (Richard) Paul and Janet (A. John) Boomsma; eleven grandkids; eighteen great-grandkids; sister, Genevieve Mattson; brother, Harry (Alvina) Baye; sister-in-law, Betty (Bob) Buchele; and several nieces and nephews.

Myron was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mandeline; sisters, Lorraine Hofmann, Marcella Mendez, and Lucille Logan; brother, Leon Baye; grandson, Shawn Baye; granddaughter, Chelsea Baye; son-in-law, Cody Gross; and several inlaws
