Monica Lynn Larsen, age 52, of Huron, SD died on Friday, March 18, 2011, at the SunQuest Healthcare Center in Huron.
Her Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday March 26, 2011, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with burial at St. Martin Cemetery in Huron.
Her visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Friday, March 25, at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron with the family present from 6-8 p.m. on Friday night; or one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Monica Lynn Steele, the daughter of Eldon and Edna (Ronk) Steele, was born on January 21, 1959, in Sioux Falls, SD. She graduated from OGorman High School in 1977. Monica attended the University of South Dakota and the Brown Institute in Minneapolis, MN, and graduated with a degree in Broadcasting. She worked for a time at a radio station in Milbank, SD, before moving to Huron in 1983, and beginning work as the News Director of KIJV Radio in Huron. She also worked for Midcom and the Huron Area Center for Independence at the Hamilton House before her illness forced her to retire.
Monica married Roger Larsen on June 9, 1984, in Sioux Falls, SD.
Monica loved to follow the news. She also enjoyed reading, shopping, and watching the Minnesota Vikings. She was very sociable and enjoyed spending time with and talking with her family and friends.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her husband Roger, of Huron, SD; 2 sons, Tim and Matt Larsen both of Huron, SD; 7 brothers: Rodney (Dona) Steele of Brookings, SD, Greg (Joanie) Steele of Springboro, OH, Steve (Mary) Steele of Sunset, SC, Denny (Mary Ann) Steele of Bloomington, MN, Jeff (Judy) Steele of Ranchester, WY, Brian Steele of Vermillion, SD, and Chad Steele of Holt Summit, MO; 1 sister, Cam (Tom) Loveland of Sioux Falls, SD; brother-in-law, David (Barb) Larsen of San Jose, CA; 2 sisters-in-law, Barbara Larsen of Palo Alto, Ca, and Elaine (Jim) Carson of Pacifica, CA; and many nieces and nephews.
Monica was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Allen Larsen
Memorials may be made in Monicas name to the family in order to help pay for her medical expenses.
