Mona Barber, 94, of Stoughton, WI, and formerly of Huron, SD, died Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at the Skaalen Nursing Home in Stoughton. Her funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 5, at the Welter Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Senner officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. with lunch to follow at the Crossroads Restaurant in Huron. Visitation will be Saturday morning one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mona Barber was born Mona Grace Wright on December 25, 1913, to Carpenter and Alice Wright in Rapid City, SD. She lived in Tilford, SD, (near Sturgis) until the age of 7 when her family moved to Huron, SD, where she received her education. On September 5, 1932, Mona married Charles LeRoy Roy Barber in Duluth, MN. They lived in Huron throughout their married life. Mona worked at the Huron Clinic as a receptionist-telephone operator for 30 years. After her retirement from the clinic, Mona worked with her good friend, Bernadine Paulson, in Bernadines Craft Shop. In 2001, due to her declining health, Mona moved to Stoughton, WI, to live with her daughter and son-in-law. In 2004, she became a resident of the Skaalen Nursing Home in Stoughton. She is survived by 1 daughter, Audrey (Cyril) Jandrey of Stoughton, WI; 1 grandson, Bruce (Susan) Jandrey; and 3 great-grandchildren, Britton Jandrey, Tyler Jandrey, and McKenna Jandrey. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy; and 1 grandson, Steven Jandrey.
