Obituary

Milford "Mel" Sprague, age 75, of Huron, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at his daughter's home in Huron, surrounded by his family. His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 10, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Huron, SD, with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, Huron. Visitation with family present will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, at the Welter Funeral Home; or one hour prior to the service at the Church on Thursday. Milford Sprague, the son of Benjamin and Grace (Stinehart) Sprague, was born on February 15, 1939 in Huron, SD. He attended school and graduated from Huron High School. Milford worked as a Mailroom Supervisor for Northwestern Public Service for over 30 years before retirement Milford married Janice Ringheimer on July 27, 1957 in Wolsey, SD. The couple made their home in Huron, SD. Milford was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Huron. He enjoyed Camping, hunting, and fishing. He was a sports fanatic and was an avid Twins and Packers fan. Milford loved to spend time with his family and friends especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time with his dogs. Grateful for having shared in Milford's life are his son, Rodney Sprague of Huron, SD; three daughters: Linda (Lee) Hedblom of Huron, SD, Sharon (Neil) Reinhardt of Huron, SD, and Diane (Tom) Felderman of Doland, SD; eight grandchildren: Karen (fiance', Joe Mitchell) O'Dell, Michelle (Kenny) Rathjen, Tim (Ashley) Hedblom, Chad (Mati) Felderman, Jill (Jon) Melby, Dana (special friend, Chantel Spurgin) Felderman, Rachel Hart, and Cassie Hedblom; twelve great-grandchildren; brother, Delmer (Fran) Sprague of Florida; and many extended family members. Milford was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Janice in 1997. Friends may pay their condolences at his daughter, Linda Hedblom's home at 259 17th St. SW in Huron.
