Obituary

Mildred Timm, age 79, of Huron, died Monday, January 30, 2012, at her home. Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 2, at First United Methodist Church with burial at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.; or Thursday morning one hour prior to the service at the church. Mildred Timm was born Mildred S. Weber, daughter of Carl and Minnie (Engel) Weber, on July 24, 1932, in Hand County, rural Miller, SD. She attended country schools in Jerauld and Beadle Counties, Virgil School until the family moved to Huron. Thereafter, Millie attended Wilson School, Jr. & Sr. High School in Huron graduating in 1950. On September 3, 1950, Millie married Floyd Timm in Huron. She worked as a secretary for Andrew Palm (who was the head of Sodak Nodak State Farm Insurance Company); Earl Swab State Farm Insurance as a secretary; Northwest National Bank & Farmer's & Merchant's Bank in Huron as a bookkeeper. In January 1960, Millie and Floyd moved to Garden Grove, CA, living there until September 1961 when they moved to a farm in the Alpena area where they started a dairy farm. In April 1966 they bought a farm at rural Wolsey where they also started a dairy farm. They retired in January 1997. In November 1997 they bought a house 7 miles west of Huron. Mildred was the bookkeeper for the Beadle County Milk Producer's for a number of years. She also did all of the bookkeeping for the dairy farm, for her son and grandson, until the end of 1998 when her eyesight failed her. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Huron, where she was baptized and married. Her many interests included driving the tractor when they lived on the farm; listening to "talking book" tapes; and listening to the Irish singer, Daniel O'Donnell. She is survived by one son Gary (Joyce) Timm of Wolsey; 3 daughters, Vickie (Lloyd) Meyer of Huron, Cindy (Tom) Borkowski of Huron, and Kathie (Howard) Bragg of Madison, MN; 13 grandchildren, William (friend Jenny Getscher) Timm, Kristi Timm, Randy (friend Tara Hochalter) Timm, Jeremy (Brandy) Timm, Ricky (friend Stephanie Mastel) Timm, Brian (Danielle) Meyer, Scott (Tammi) Meyer, Jenni Kubal, Mandi (Rocky) Forman, Darci (Rob) Sheneman, Joshua (Josie) Bragg, Dustin (Katie) Bragg, and Jessica (fiancé Ryan Fischer) Bragg; 20 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Kenneth (Pat) Weber of Huron; 1 sister, Inez Grace of Huron; mother-in-law, Helene Van Buskirk of Huron; 1 brother-in-law, Bob (Betty) Timm of Huron; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd Timm on November 15, 1999; 1 granddaughter-in-law, Melissa Timm; 3 brothers, Ivan Weber, Elmer Weber, and George Weber; 2 sisters, Ruby Schmidtgall, and Mary Micheel; 4 brothers-in-law, Bill Schmidtgall, Leo Schmidtgall, Irl Grace, and Ken Timm; and 1 sister-in-law, Phyllis Weber.
