Mildred Swaney, age 95, of Huron, died Wednesday evening, June 23, 2010, at the SunQuest Healthcare Center.

Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at the Huron Christian Church with burial at the Bonilla Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday, June 28, from 1-8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 p.m.: or one hour prior to the service at the church Tuesday morning.

Mildred Edna Miller was born on October 29, 1914, to Allen and Lorena (Otto) Miller, in Bonilla, SD. She attended grade school in the Bonilla area and graduated from Bonilla High School in 1931.

On April 14, 1933, Mildred married Wayne Swaney at the Presbyterian Church in Huron. They lived in the Burdette, SD, area until 1942 when they moved to a farm in the Bonilla area. They farmed until November of 1966 when they moved to Minneapolis, MN. In the early 1980s they moved to Huron where they have lived since that time. Mildred was a homemaker, taking great care of the family.

Mildred was a member of the Huron Christian Church. She enjoyed drawing and painting pictures. She won several ribbons with her paintings. All of her children and grandchildren have a picture that she had given them.

Mildred is survived by her daughter, Merry (Clayton) Burton of Hitchcock, SD; one son-in-law, Lyle Mullner of Cheyenne, WY; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and special friends, Kathy (Hartly) Dahl of Elk River, MN, and Doris Skow of Huron.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne on January 24, 2008; daughters, Rita Mullner, and Pat (Mike) Saarie; sister, Madonna Miller; brother, Willfred Miller; step-brother, Don Miller; and step-sister, Minnie Parkinson.
