Mildred Minske, age 90, of Huron, SD, died Monday, June 21, 2010, at SunQuest Healthcare Center.

Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 26, at First United Methodist Church with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 1-8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home with family present from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.; or Saturday morning one hour prior to the service.

Mildred Minske was born Mildred Maxine Wiles, daughter of Booker and Hazel (Harmon) Wiles, on November 25, 1919, in Belle Prairie Township, rural Esmond, SD. She graduated from Iroquois High School in 1937, after which she attended Northwest College of Commerce in Huron.

On September 5, 1944, Mildred married Emmett H. Minske in First Methodist Church at Pensacola, FL. They lived in Florida and Georgia during the remainder of Emmetts enlistment in the Naval Air Corp during World War II, prior to returning to Huron in October of 1945.

Mildred was a member of First United Methodist Church; lifetime member of Huron Area Senior Center; as well as a Charter member of Huron Lioness Club.

She is survived by 1 son, Ronald (Mary) Minske, of Mesa, AZ; twin granddaughters, Carrie (Sean) Crowley of Sonora, CA, and Angela Sabbe of Santa Monica, CA; 2 great granddaughters, Hannah Sabbe and Kelsie Sabbe, both of Santa Monica, CA; 3 nieces, Marilyn (Tom) Escher of Escondido, CA, Kathy (Alan) Aughenbaugh of Iroquois, SD, and Carol (Dale) Rhoe of Osceola, WI; and 1 sister-in-law, Vera Meyer of Rancho Mirage, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emmett on May 7, 1991; her stepfather; 2 brothers, Elmer Wiles and Earl Wiles; 1 sister, Lucille Stoneking; and 2 nephews, Wayne Wiles and Donald Stoneking.
