Mike J. Waldner, age 78 , of 1400 21st St SW #152, Huron, SD, died on Saturday, July 18, 2009, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.

His funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at Welter Funeral Home in Huron with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron.

Visitation with the family will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, at the funeral home; or one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Mike J. Waldner, son of John and Sarah (Wallman) Waldner, was born on October 17,1930, in Manitoba, Canada. Shortly after his birth, his family moved to the United States. He attended schools at and graduated from the Pearl Creek Colony School. Mike married Alice Jensen on June 4, 1958, in Huron, SD. He worked as a farmhand for many years. Mike also worked for the City of Huron for several years until his health forced him to retire.

Mike enjoyed cooking, coffee, and playing cards. He loved spending time with his family and friends.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Alice; son: Richard Waldner, Huron, SD; 4 daughters: Laurie Waldner, Cindy (Tracy) Herren, Millie (Monte) Henrichsen and Amy Waldner, all of Huron, SD; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; his brother, Alfred Waldner, Huron, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law; 6 brothers; and 3 sisters.
