Michael Simon Waldner, age 9 of Pearl Creek Colony died Friday June 17, 2011 at home after a coragous two year battle with cancer. His funeral will be at 3:00 pm Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Pearl Creek Colony with burial in Pearl Creek Colony Cemetery. Michael Simon Waldner was born on September 5, 2001 to Matt and Kathy Waldner of Pearl Creek Colony. In March of 2009, he was diagnosed with Lymphoma and so began his courageous battle with cancer. He was cancer free until September of 2010, when in spite of Chemo treatments, he relapsed. He underwent aggressive chemo and radiation treatments leading up to a bone marrow transplant, which took place in Minneapolis on March 25, 2011. Though he had many complications, we thought he was winning the battle. But our Heavenly Father had other plans and on June 2, 2011 he relapsed once again. We bought him home on June 4, 2011. Yes, he was happy to be home! What a blessing these last 2 weeks were to see him smile, enjoying his family, his home and seeing his friends again. Our Heavenly Father took Michael home on June 17, 2011. Michael was such an inspiration to all of us. He taught us so much about patiently accepting whatever trials await us. We will always remember his mischievous smile, his infectious giggle and treasure the drawings and sketches he left us. Left to cherish precious memories of Michael are his parents, Matt and Kathy; brothers and sisters, Mathias, Kathrina, Rebecca, Corey, Cyrus, Daniel, and Malachi; all of Pearl Creek Colony; paternal Grandmother, Esther Waldner of Pearl Creek; maternal Grandparents, Mike and Rebecca Waldner of Altona Colony; many uncles, aunts and cousins. He was preceded in death by paternal Grandfather, Moses Waldner.
